Situated within a 35-minute drive northeast of downtown Paris, CDG Airport occupies an extensive area involving three départements and six communes. Its physical address is 95700 Roissy-en-France, France, and the facility itself provides easy access through surrounding road arteries.
The main local highway, A1, takes you to CDG from Paris and its northern suburbs, including Saint-Denis and Le Bourget. The same road can be used if approaching the airport in a southerly direction. In addition, the N104 is ideal for commuting from Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône and other northwestern areas. Finally, the D212, which bypasses the facility on the northeast side, and the N2 running to the southwest and joining the A3, offer quick connections to the surrounding infrastructure.
With an area of almost 33 square kilometers (12.50 sq miles), CDG Airport has three independent terminals at its disposal. The oldest of them, the round-shaped T1, lies in the central northern part of the airfield. At the same time, T2 extends from west to east in the south of the structure and includes six interconnected sub-terminals - 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, and 2F, plus T2G located separately half a mile to the east. Finally, Terminal 3 spans the territory north of the T2A section and handles low-cost and charter flights. All terminals plus corresponding parking garages feature a fast link via the CDGVAL automated light-rail shuttle system.
Having an oblong layout, most of the CDG airport, and especially Terminal 2, stretches from west to east, with Terminals 1 and 3 lying slightly to the north in the central part of the airfield. T1, T2, and T3 are connected to each other and the PR and PX parking garages via the CDGVAL light rail system. At the same time, the RER B line also passes through all passenger terminals and leads into downtown.
To quickly move along the seven-section T2, passengers can use N1/N2 shuttles running between and also stopping at PAB, PCD, PG, and PW parking facilities. Also, convenient exits to the A1 in the western part and A104 in the eastern airport section provide quick road access to surrounding destinations. If you look at the Charles de Gaulle terminal map, you will see that they are well-designed and have a thought-out access system for departing and arriving passengers. While the T1 and T3 are more centralized, the T2 features an elongated shape with seven interconnected sections. Check out more details about the terminals to better plan your move within CDG.
